- Washing – For many physically impaired or elderly people, they do not have the agility to wash themselves thoroughly. This can health implications, but also lead to lower self-esteem.
- Dressing – Being dressed properly improves confidence and can give a sense of purpose to people struggling at this time.
- Toilet assistance – Toilets can be dangerous for vulnerable people. They are slippy and could cause injury. Having somebody there provides peace of mind.
- Cooking and eating – Elderly people want their independence and part of this is having the meals they enjoy. Sometimes this might require support, including buying shopping for those that want to avoid busy supermarkets. Our carers also help with eating and drinking to make sure clients do not go hungry.
Other services in the home we provide are laundry, ironing and vacuuming. Soma appreciate that many vulnerable and elderly people feel isolated currently. Having a trained carer check on them means they can see a friendly face and have the social contact they otherwise may not receive.
Our staff wear appropriate protective gear and regularly sanitise hands whilst in a home or handling a client’s property.
